The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is less than a week away and all ten franchises have hit the floor to give their best. While the defending champions in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be eyeing their sixth title, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will also be eyeing to end their title drought and get their hands on their third title.

While the two-time IPL champions earned their titles under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, they will look to end their drought with the return of Gambhir in their ranks. It is to be noted that the former KKR skipper joins as mentor after plying his trade with Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons. The 42-year-old, who recently quit politics to focus on his commitments in cricket, addressed the KKR camp for the first time this year.

However, he kept things straight for the franchise, but inadvertently gave away the dates for the IPL 2024 final. While addressing the KKR squad in his first collective meeting, Gambhir mentioned, “on 26th May, we should be there,” pointing towards the summit clash of this year’s edition. Notably, this comes as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce the remainder of schedule for the IPL 2024.  Check the top betting trends on the  best betting apps in India  and sites.

“On 26th May, we should be there, giving everything possible; and it starts from today …. So if we walk the same path and if we fight, I am sure we are going to achieve a lot of success,” the former India cricketer said in the video shared by KKR on social media.

The 42-year-old World Cup winning Indian cricketer also stressed on giving equal treatment to players in the camp in his address. “We start the season from today, whether it’s physically, mentally, skill-wise, give everything possible. It’s a very, very proud franchise. You guys are representing a very successful franchise. Make sure you train that way, play that way and carry that attitude on the field,” he further added.

BCCI looking to move out second half of IPL 2024: Reports

BCCI has so far announced the schedule for only first 17 days, which includes 21 matches being played from March 22 till April 7. However, new reports reveal that the board is planning to move out the second phase of the tournament as the dates of the General Elections are yet to be announced.
