Pretoria Capitals are seeking to firm their position at the top-spot as they are squaring off with Rashid Khan-led MI Cape Town. After being invited to bat first, Capitals got the perfect foundation as openers Will Jacks and Kusal Mendis joined hands to add 88-runs for the first wicket. The duo was cruising ahead comfortably before brilliant camaraderie between George Linde and Ryan Rickelton at the deep square leg provided the first breakthrough to MI Cape Town.
It was the last ball of the seventh over of the first innings when Cape Town's skipper Rashid Khan bowled a short ball which was pulled by Kusal Mendis to deep square leg. Rickleton got hold of the ball at the rope but as his left foot was close to touching the boundary, he managed to stay away and threw the ball inside the rope, which was very well caught by George Linde. The brilliant partnership between two fielders broke provided much needed breakthrough to the side.

After MI Cape Town got rid of Kusal Mendis, Odean Smith produced the second breakthrough for his side as he dismissed dangerous looking Will Jacks in the very next over. After Mendis and Jacks, middle-order batter Theunis de Bruyn has taken the responsibility on his shoulder as he has already added 21 runs in 17 deliveries with the help of one maximum and as many as boundaries.
