Continuing his stellar time in India, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell smashed a 48-ball 104 to help Australia beat India by five wickets in the third T20I in Guwahati. After a poor bowling display which included Maxwell's 30-run 20th over, Australia were chasing a massive 223-run target set by India.
The CWC 2023 champs started off well but lost their way after losing a few wickets. But as Maxwell walked to bat when the score was 68-3, he started steadily and built a short partnership with Marcus Stoinis. But after the Stoinis' dismissal and Tim David's golden duck, Maxwell went off as targetted each bowler and carried Australia towards the massive total.
As Mathew Wade also smashed a few more boundaries, Australia managed to score 22 runs in the 19th over. Then with 21 required off the last six, Maxwell brought out the big guns as smashed Prasidh Krishna for 6,4,4,4 on the last four balls to seal a thrilling win for the Aussies.
Talking about this knock, Glenn Maxwell said: "It all went pretty quickly. It was hard work for them to bowl yorkers with so much dew. We didn’t really have a number in mind. Knew we would be in the game if we could take it down to the final over. Wade had to be out there to cash in with Axar having one over left towards the end. Wade was brilliant out there, the way he went helped me as well."
