New Zealand's Glenn Phillips pulled off a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Ollie Pope in the first Test. Notably, England are currently touring New Zealand for a three-match Test series, which kicked off on November 28 and will come to an end on December 18. In the first match of the series at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Phillips displayed some superhuman effort and pulled off a stunning one-handed catch to put an end to Ollie Pope’s knock on Day 2.

The incident occurred during the 53rd over of England’s first innings when Pope and Harry Brook had already built a 151-run stand for the fifth wicket. Kiwi skipper Tom Latham brought in Southee, and the speedster ended up dismissing Pope in his second delivery. Pope had come to bat at number six and played a key knock with 98-ball 77 before Phillips pulled off a stunning one-handed catch to bring his innings to an end.

On the second ball of the 53rd over, Southee bowled a short delivery wide outside off the stump, to which Pope saw the width on offer and attempted to cut. Phillips, positioned in the off-side flew like a bird to his right and plucked it out of thin air. The 27-year-old put his acrobatic skills on show and pulled off a one-handed catch to end to the English batter’s knock.

On the other hand, Harry Brook came up with a remarkable knock and slammed the seventh century of his Test career. He was later joined by skipper Ben Stokes as the guests aimed to chase New Zealand’s first innings total of 348 runs. At the end of day 2, England were at 319 for five wickets in 74 overs and trailed the hosts by 29 runs.
