Umpire Nitin Menon confirmed the edge without Ultraedge during Devdutt Paddikal’s knock in the clash against Gujarat Titans. Lucknow Super Giants locked horns with Gujarat Titans in the 21st fixture of the tournament at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 7, Sunday. Earlier during the game, LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first. The hosts got off to a slow start and got an early shock as they lost Quinton de Kock on the fourth ball of the first over.
After De Kock, Devdutt Padikkal came in to bat who seemed to have got dismissed on the first ball itself. GT bowler Umesh Yadav bowled a length delivery to Padikkal that skidded along the deck and he got an inside edge on the back pad. However, when Yadav took a review against Paddikal, third umpire, Nitin Menon refused to check UltraEdge after spotting a deflection.
But as it wasn’t shown on screen, Gill and other GT players were left confused and they questioned the on-field umpire. The GT skipper wanted Ultraedge to confirm the same, but Menon didn’t seem to be bothered, and the Titans lost one of their reviews in the first over itself. However, shortly after the incident, Yadav went on to dismiss Padikkal and the LSG batter had to walk back with a short score of seven runs.
Earlier during the toss, KL Rahul said that they were confident about batting first and it was the first time he realised that they haven’t won against GT. Not only this, but he also talked about Mayank Yadav and lauded him by saying that he is very professional in the way he goes about his cricket and his routine and they need to manage him.
