The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 match between England and Haiti saw a bizarre penalty which was retaken because of the Haitian keeper's error. In a David-vs-Goliath battle, the Lionesses dominated the fixture by holding a majority of the possession and launching a plethora of attacks. Then in the 26th minute, England won the penalty after Chloe Kelly’s deep corner seems to brush the fingers of Batcheba Louis.

Here Haiti's goalkeeper Kerly Theus stepped up and pulled off a stunning save to deny Georgia Stanway as she was immediately surrounded by her teammates. But Haiti's celebrations were cut short as the referee asked England to retake the penalty as Theus was off her line. On the second attempt, Stanway made no error and comfortably slotted in the goal to give England a 1-0.
