Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been under extreme scrutiny from fans and media alike since he was appointed the Mumbai Indians captain, replacing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Since the announcement, several reports about possible rifts between the two surfaced.
Pandya had to face the wrath of the media during a press conference alongside head coach Mark Boucher. The duo were asked questions about replacing Rohit Sharma and a possible captaincy clause in his contract as he traded from the Gujarat Titans, ahead of IPL 2024.

But putting aside these rumours, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were spotted embracing each other at an MI training session at the Wankhede stadium. The video was posted on Mumbai Indian's social media account with the caption, " 33 (hugging emoji) 45."

Speaking at Mumbai Indians press conference, Hardik Pandya explained that there won't be a power struggle between him and Rohit Sharma. Pandya said, "It will not be any different, he will always be there to help me. This team, what it has achieved, it has achieved under him and I just have to carry forward that. He is going to have his hand on my shoulders."
Addressing the negative fan reaction, Pandya said, "We respect fans but we focus on the sport and what is required. I focus on the controllables, fans have every right and I respect their opinion."
