India women cricket team locked horns with the Bangladesh team in the third and final ODI of the three-match series in Dhaka on July 22, Saturday. Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss and invited the visitors to bowl first and put up a score of 225 at the loss of four wickets for Harmanpreet Kaur’s side. The game that tied with both the teams levelling at 1-1 in the series, saw the Indian captain losing her cool after her dismissal.
The visitors started off their chase on a rough patch, losing Shafali Verma and Yashika Bhatia within the first five overs. The duo of Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol took the responsibility on their shoulders and put up 107 runs. After Mandhana’s wicket at 59 runs, Indian captain came into bat and though what seemed to be a promising inning, Kaur’s stay on the crease ended at 14.

Kaur was dismissed off a Nahida Akter delivery in the 34th over, when she tried to pull up a sweep shot. The ball hit her pads and went straight into the hands of the fielder at the first slip. The Bangladesh team erupted in joy, whereas the 34-year-old Indian cricketer lost her cool before walking back to the pavilion.
Harmanpreet Kaur gestured towards the umpire, indicating the ball hit the bat, and she could face punishment for her actions that breached the ICC’s behaviour code and playing regulations. Chasing the target of 226, the Indian innings ended in 49.3 overs, resulting in the match as well as the series tie.
The next time we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring: Harmanpreet Kaur
The Indian skipper continued her anger to the post-match presentation and highlighted the poor quality of umpiring during the game. She said that the Indian team was surprised by the quality of umpiring and said that her side will be prepared for it the next time they are here. Speaking to the post-match presenter, she said, "I think a lot of learning for us from the game. Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly".
The Indian star added, "In between we leaked a few runs, but we controlled the game very well when we were batting, but as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done, we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires".
