Rohit Sharma's side didn’t have a desirable opening to the final of the ‘Ultimate Test’, World Test Championship 2023. Australia dominated Day 1 of the grand finale at The Oval and posted 327 runs. Sharma started the day by winning the toss and opting to field first, however, Indian bowlers managed to pick only three wickets with Travis Head and Steve Smith playing an unbeaten partnership of whopping 251 runs. As the day went on, the Indian skipper grew frustrated, and it could be clearly seen when he lost his cool at one of his teammates.

A video has been circulating on social media wherein Sharma could be seen shouting at his teammates and using foul language. The 36-year-old was caught on camera abusing his teammate while setting the field ahead of Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket. Shouting at a fellow India cricketer, Sharma said, “Kya kar rahe ho ********?” Clearly, the opening day of the biggest Test match was very frustrating for the Indian bowlers as they toiled hard without getting any significant reward.

Aussie batter Travis Head is batting at 146 off 156 deliveries with a combination of 22 fours and 1 six; on the other hand, Steve Smith remains unbeaten at 95 off 227 balls with 14 fours. Head scored his sixth ton off 106 balls. The 29-year-old cricketer was clearly satisfied with the performance of his team despite losing the toss. He said, “Losing the toss this morning, we’ve done an exceptionally good job on day one. Lot of hard work to do in the morning, but nice to come off with a really good start. I had a wonderful time, this time in 2019, we played a million warm-up games and the ‘A’ series. This time completely different. We know the process well and train and have the backing.”

Notably, this is Team Aussie’s maiden WTC Final, whereas India reached the top two after losing the WTC Final to New Zealand in the inaugural season.
