Pant met with the accident while travelling from Delhi to Roorkee in his car when he fell asleep while driving, which caused his car to collide with a divider on the Narsan border of Roorkee, in Uttarakhand. The Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper made a miraculous escape from the car that caught fire after the accident. The cricketer is currently at the National Cricket Academy where he is undergoing recovery and is sure to miss the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 slated to begin from October 5 in India. The inaugural game will be played between the reigning champions, England and runners up of 2019 edition, New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
