Irfan Pathan, the former Indian cricketer, danced to the tunes of famous Bollywood song “Afghan Jalebi” after Afghanistan cricket team defeated England by eight runs in a historic turn of events, to eliminate them from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After the 40-year-old shared the short clip of his dance on the official Instagram account, all-rounder Rashid Khan hilariously appreciated his exploits before thanking him for his “support and love”.

Notably, after Afghanistan defeated England for the first-time in ODI cricket by 63 runs during the Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Irfan Pathan and Rashid Khan had danced together in front of thousands of fans in attendance. With their current win over the English, the Afghans have put themselves a step closer to reaching the semi-finals stage of the competition if they defeat Australia in the final Group B match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Ibrahim Zadran was declared player of the match for his 177 in 146

In the short video posted by Irfan Pathan shared on Instagram of him dancing to the Afghan Jalebi song, he also wrote a caption, which read, “Another ICC win against England from Afghanistan. Well done”. In the comments section, Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan remarked, “@irfanpathan_official bhai jan mere baghair dance haha thank you bhai for always support and love”.

Moreover, the victory of Afghanistan over England was built on Ibrahim Zadran’s 177 runs in 146 balls and Azmatullah Omarzai’s five-wicket haul. The right-handed batter was given the player of the match award for his exceptional innings after Afghanistan lost three early wickets, and he went onto become the highest individual scorer in the history of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

In the post-match chat, Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan, remarked, as per Times Now, “As a team we are happy. Our nation will be happy with this win. Moving on to the next game. We beat them first time in 2023. We are improving day by day. Today was a tense game. We controlled it well. I am happy with the result. Zadran is a talented guy. We were three down at the beginning and the pressure was on. The partnership between me and him was crucial. One of the best ODI knocks that I have seen.”
