Irfan Pathan, the former Indian all-rounder, was spotted having a heartwarming interaction with the son of the ex-Pakistan captain, Younis Khan after the conclusion of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 final. At the Edgbaston in Birmingham, the India Champions defeated the Pakistan Champions by five wickets, chasing down the 157-run target with five balls to spare.

Following the conclusion of the WCL 2024 final, the families of Irfan Pathan and Younis Khan converged on the sidelines of the presentation area, to have a hearty chat with each other. Moments later, Younis Khan introduced his son to Irfan Pathan, stating that he is a bit shy, which led to a heartwarming interaction between the Indian cricketing icon and the young boy, the video of which was shared by the Pakistan journalist, Ihtisham Ul Haq.

Here is the clip of Irfan Pathan embracing Younis Khan's son:

Earlier, in the WCL 2024 final, the captain of the Pakistan Champions, Younis Khan, won the toss and decided to bat first on an Edgbaston pitch, which was expected to get slower and lower. The top order of the Pakistan Champions struck a few boundaries in the powerplay stage of the innings, but the India Champions chipped away with wickets of Sharjeel Khan and Shoaib Maqsood.

Shortly after, the massive wicket of Kamran Akmal fell for 24 off 19, and the captain Younis Khan didn’t add much to the Pakistan Champions score either. But then, Shoaib Malik (41 off 36) and Sohail Tanvir (19 off 9) helped propel the team’s total to 156/6 in their allotted overs after Anureet Singh picked up three wickets.

In the run chase, the India Champions lost the wickets of Robin Utthappa and Suresh Raina early, to find themselves in some strife. But, a 60-run partnership for the third wicket between Ambati Rayudu (50 off 30) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (34 off 33), helped them get ahead of the game.

Yusuf Pathan struck a few lusty blows in the final few overs of the Indian innings alongside a circumspect India Champions captain Yuvraj Singh, to put the team on the brink of a famous win. In the final over of the innings, Irfan Pathan struck a boundary straight down the ground in Birmingham, to ensure that the India Champions walked away with the WCL 2024 title in their hands.
