Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has announced himself in red-ball cricket by smashing two sixes in an over to win the game for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Invitational Trophy 2024. Kishan was dropped from BCCI's central contracts for ignoring domestic cricket. This followed a disappointing IPL season where he scored 320 runs in 14 games with a solitary half-century and hasn't featured in the Indian team.
In the first innings, Kishan smashed a magnificent century, hammering 114 runs off just 107 deliveries and helping Jharkhand take a 64-run lead. But the match took a tense turn when Jharkhand, chasing a modest target of 174, suffered a middle-order collapse in the fourth innings.

Despite starting strong at 65/1, the Kishan-led side lost five quick wickets for a mere 70 runs. The game was in the balance with 12 runs still needed to win and only two wickets in hand in the 55th over. In this tense moment, Ishan Kishan stepped as he smashed two sixes off Akash Rajawat to win the game for Jharkhand.
After the Buchi Babu Trophy 2024, Ishan Kishan and a host of top Indian cricketers will feature in the Duleep Trophy which kicks off on September 5 in Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and Bengaluru. Kishan will play for Team D which features Devdutt Padikkal, Axar Patel and Shreyas lyer, the captain of the side.
