On Friday, August 23, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, Ishan Kishan stunned one and all by bowling some off spin in Buchi Babu invitational tournament match for Jharkhand against Hyderabad. The 26-year-old is the latest Indian international to try his hand at bowling after Gautam Gambhir took over the head coach role, sparking a huge uproar on the social media platform X.
On day three of the round two clash in the Buchi Babu invitational tournament in Tamil Nadu, Ishan Kishan bowled off spin to southpaw T Ravi Teja from around the wicket. Although his bowling exploits didn’t help Jharkhand, who lost to Hyderabad by nine wickets after they chased down a small target with ease.
Moreover, Ishan Kishan took to bowling in domestic cricket, to possibly strengthen his cause for making his way back into the Indian cricket team. In the last couple of months, since the arrival of Gautam Gambhir in the head coach role, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, and Rishabh Pant have bowled a few overs, making the competition for places in the Indian squad quite difficult to say the least.

As far as the batting exploits of Ishan Kishan go, he returned to domestic cricket for Jharkhand with a hundred against Madhya Pradesh in the first round of the Buchi Babu invitational tournament. He reached the three-figure score in just 86 balls, hitting nine sixes in the 39-ball phase of his innings.
