The Shabad Khan-led Islamabad United became the first team to win three PSL titles after the defeated the Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans on Monday, March 18 at the National Stadium in Karachi. After invited to bowl first, the side restricted the Multan Sultans to 159/9 in 20 overs, courtesy Imad Wasim’s five-wicket haul.
The Islamabad United then chased the 160-run target in their stipulated 20 over with ease on the back of Martin Guptill’s well-made 50 and crucial contribution from wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan. Soon after the thrilling last-ball win, the Shadab Khan-led side stood in solidarity with Palestine as they were seen waving the Palestinian flag during their victory lap in Karachi.
In videos going viral, a group of Pakistan players, including Shadab Khan, all-rounder Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah and others were seen walking with Palestine flags as they walked around the stadium. In one of the videos, Naseem Shah was joined by brothers Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah with the Palestine flag around them.

Skipper Shadab Khan opens up on Palestine flag gesture
Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan during the post-match press conference opened up about the team’s victory celebrations with the Palestine flag. Khan, after the team’s title triumph said, “It was very important for us” while emphasising that it was a holistic idea to celebrate like this.

It is to be noted that a Pakistani cricket fan was earlier barred from entering the stadium after he was spotted carrying a Palestine flag during the PSL 2024.
