LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers ended their two-game losing streak to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 123-120 on Friday and clinched the eighth spot in the standings with one game ahead of the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. During the Lakers' win against the Grizzlies, the 39-year-old LeBron scored a game-winning dunk following a steal, however, Grizzlies' Ja Morant, who was on the sidelines, was not impressed with the steal and slam.
The 2023-24 NBA regular season has just one round of games remaining and the battle for the No.1 and 8 seed in the Western Conference is getting cut-throat. With just one game remaining for all teams, the Lakers are placed eighth in the West with a 46-35 record followed by the Kings and the Warriors with a 45-36 record each.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for 73 points as the Lakers beat the Grizzlies 123-120 at the FedExForum. Memphis star guard Ja Morant, who has been sidelined since January after undergoing a season-ending shoulder surgery, was on the sidelines during the clash. LeBron pulled off a late steal and sealed the win for the Lakers with his slam dunk. However, the 24-year-old appeared to push the 20-time NBA All-Star and pointed at the Grizzlies logo while wiping himself off.

While the Lakers beat the Grizzlies to clinch the eighth seed in the West, Sacramento and Golden State lost their respective games against the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. Apart from them, the race for the West Seed 1 between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Denver Nuggets is also stimulating. The Thunder, Wolves, and Nuggets are placed at the top three spots respectively due to their head-to-head records with an identical season record of 56-25.
