Yashasvi Jaiswal grabbed an incredible catch for India to assist Harshit Rana to help his pacer get his maiden ODI wicket in the form of England opener Ben Duckett. Earlier, the opener became a hot topic after India declared their playing XI for the first ODI against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur. The left-handed player became a part of India’s playing XI, and got the opportunity to make his ODI debut. The announcement brought joy to the faces of his supporters as they displayed their elation on social media sites. Eyes will now be set on the youngster’s batting performance in the second innings of the match as he will be expected to deliver a sensational start to the team while opening.

However, Team India will have to be patient to witness Jaiswal’s batting but in the first innings of the game, the 23-year-old has looked extremely confident while fielding. Following England’s rapid start, India were looking to make a comeback in the contest. With Phil Salt’s departure, England were a bit shaken but India were in no position to relax as the visiting side looked settled with a score of 77/1 within 10 overs of the match. Amidst these developments, Rana bowled a slightly full delivery, which was mistimed by Ben Duckett. With the ball in the air, Jaiswal exhibited alacrity and took a diving blinder while fielding at the square leg area.

India hits back after a shaky start

Rohit Sharma and his men felt uneasy at the start of the game after an extraordinary knock from Phil Salt. However, the right-handed batter fell after scoring 43 runs off 26 balls due to a misunderstanding with his opening partner Duckett. Before walking back to the pavilion, the opener clobbered five fours and three maximums.

Salt’s dismissal boosted India’s confidence as they struck back Buttler and Co. After Salt, Duckett and Harry Brook also failed to spend time at the crease. The partnership between veterans Joe Root and Buttler gave some tough time to the Men in Blue but that wasn’t enough for the English team to get hold of the game.
