Bangladesh batter Jaker Ali became subject to a bizarre run out in the T20I series against West Indies. The batter was called back to the crease from the dressing room after being run out during the third and final game of the T20I series. It is to be noted that Bangladesh registered a historic clean sweep against West Indies in their own backyard, and defeated the hosts by a margin of 80 runs to clinch a 3-0 win over their rivals.

Earlier during the game, Ali was included in a bizarre incident, when he was recalled to bat after being given out. The incident took place in the 15th over of Bangladesh’s innings, when Ali and Shamim Hossain got involved in a big mix-up while attempting a run. On the third ball of the over, Ali played a shot towards the square leg, and turned back to run for second, after having completed one run. However, Ali was stranded in the middle of the pitch, after Hossain sent him back. While he attempted to make it to the striker’s end, he fell short.

Since the batter could not make it to the crease in time, he started walking back to the dressing room. However, replays suggested that he had managed to put his bat first inside the popping crease while Hossain’s bat was hanging in the air. It offered a golden lifeline to Ali, but ended up in an unexpected and unfortunate dismissal for Hossain. The batter made his full use of the chance and went on to score a terrific half century. Ali remained unbeaten on 72 off 41 balls, and hit a mammoth three boundaries and six maximums off just 41 balls.

His knock guided the side to a historic clean sweep against West Indies. Owing to his knock, Bangladesh posted 189 for seven after Bangla skipper Litton Das opted to bat first. In return, West Indies were bundled out for 109 off 16.4 overs, with all-rounder Romario Shepherd top scoring with 33.
