The Men in Blue are taking on England in the fifth and final Test of the five-match series at home. Although, this time it was Ben Stokes-led England who won the toss and opted to bat first, the Indian spinners including the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin restricted the visitors to 218.
With India taking a considerable 255-run lead at Stumps on Day 2 with the Indian scoreboard reading 473/8. But England bowlers took the game early on Day 3 as they dismissed Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah to end the host back to the pavilion with a 259-run lead.
While Shoaib Bashir completed his five-wicket haul with a wicket of Jasprit Bumrah, Anderson got to his 700th Test wicket with a brilliant dismissal of Kuldeep Yadav. Going into Day 3 with just one wicket shy of 700 Test wickets. Bowling his second over of the day, Anderson bowled a delivery on a length outside off with Kuldeep nicking it to the keeper and Ben Foakes collecting it with ease.
The England pacer, who finally clinched his 700th Test wicket to join the elite club, celebrated this feat. While his teammates joined him to congratulate the pacer, Anderson raised the ball to acknowledge at this moment. Moreover, his parents, who were also present at the moment, stood up to accolade the achievement of Anderson.
With this feat, Anderson became the first pacer to get to 700 wickets and third overall to join the 700 club after M. Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708).
Shoaib Bashir completes five-wicket haul; gets congratulated by teammates
Not only did James Anderson etch history, England spinner Shoaib Bashir also completed his five-wicket haul as he gets Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, early in the hour on Day 3 of the fifth Test.
With the two England bowlers bundling out India at the score of 477 in 124.1 overs, The Ben Stokes-led England will take the field to put up a strong total on the board.
