James Anderson is at that stage of his career where records seem to be following him in every match. As soon as Anderson bowled Simon Harmer in the 81st over of the South African second innings on Day 3 of the second Test in Manchester, he became the highest wicket-taker pacer in international cricket. Anderson now has 950 scalps in 533 innings as he left behind Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath.
While Pakistan's left-arm pacer Akram had finished with 916 international wickets from 532 innings, Australian legend McGrath was the previous record holder with 949 wickets from 493 innings. Earlier, Anderson became the first cricketer in the history of Test cricket to play 100 Test matches in his home.

The 40-year-old went past Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting on his way to most Tests in a single country who had featured in 94 and 92 home Tests respectively. Meanwhile, Anderson's teammate Stuart Broad is the fourth on this list. A veteran of 174 Test matches, Anderson is also the third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket overall with over 660 wickets behind Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Australia's Shane Warne (708).
