In the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 knockout match, the Aaron Hardie-led Perth Scorchers locked horns with Adelaide Strikers at the Perth Stadium on Saturday, 20th January. However, after winning the toss, the Scorchers invited the Strikers to bat first.

While the skipper Aaron Hardie bowled the first over, Jason Behrendorff was called into the attack. While he bowled a short of a length first delivery, he handed the Scorchers their first wicket with a brilliant return catch. The Australian cricketer shortened the length and targeted onto the pads. While the left-hander tried to tuck into the leg-side, but the edge led it to pop back towards the bowler. However, Behrendorff in his follow-through, ran forward and slide to complete a fine catch.

However, Behrendorff’s brilliant effort went in vain as woeful batting from the Scorchers knocked them out of the tournament. Known as the powerhouse of BBL, the Scorchers campaign came to an end with a 51-run loss against the Strikers.
Earlier, while the Sydney Sixers sealed the finals berth with a 29-run win over Brisbane Heat in Qualifier on Friday, 19th January, the Strikers will now play Colin Munro-led Brisbane Heat in the Challenger on Monday, 22nd January at the Carrara Oval in Queensland.
