Jasprit Bumrah, the stand-in captain for Team India, scalped for Andy Balbirinie and Lorcan Tucker in his first over on return to international cricket, during the first T20I international against Ireland on August 18, Friday. At the Malahide Cricket Ground in Dublin, the 29-year-old played his first match for the national side, after sitting on the sidelines for the better part of 11 months due to a back injury.
Notably, after winning the toss in Dublin, Jasprit Bumrah chose to field first against Ireland in the first T20I of the three-match series. The premier fast bowler took the ball in the first over of the match, but he got smashed for a boundary to the leg side by Andy Balbirnie on the first delivery.

Then, Jasprit Bumrah picked up the wicket of the Irish opener on the second ball, when he hung his bat out to a full delivery, which sung in to take the inside edge of the bat and crash into his stumps. On the fifth ball of the first over, he also dismissed Lorcan Tucker without scoring, after the number three batter attempted to scoop him in the fine-leg region, but only found Sanju Samson behind the stumps, who took an easy catch.

The great rhythm and penetration with the ball in hand from the 29-year-old is a welcome sign for Team India, in the build-up to the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup in the upcoming weeks and months. Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the most trusted bowlers for various captains during his playing days for Team India, which is likely to be the case for Rohit Sharma, whenever both players take the field together for the national side.
