Sydney Sixers’ fielder Jordan Silk amazed everyone with his tremendous fielding in match number 15 of the 2024-25 Big Bash League at the Gabba in Brisbane. The 32-year-old took a diving one-handed catch at deep mid-wicket to dismiss Jimmy Peirson on Todd Murphy’s delivery as Brisbane Heat lost their third wicket at the score of 72 runs while batting first. Before that, Silk also took a great catch on Akeal Hosein’s delivery to dismiss Brisbane Heat skipper Colin Munro in the seventh over.
Talking about the match, Sydney Sixers avenged the previous year’s final defeat against Brisbane Heat as they defeated them by eight wicket in their first meeting in the ongoing season. With this, Sydney Sixers also registered their fourth consecutive win of the season, and are currently ruling at the top of the points table, while Brisbane Heat are currently at fifth place with two wins and as many losses.

Batting first, Brisbane Heat posted 138 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Nathan McSweeney was the top scorer with 34(29) runs, hitting one four and two sixes, Paul Walker scored 22(18) and Mitchell Swapson also gave finishing touches with 11*(4). For Sydney Sixers, Ben Dwarshuis shone with the figures of 4/32 in his spell of four overs. Along with him, Hayden Kerr and Todd Murphy scalped two wickets each, while Akeal Hosein put one in his bag.
Chasing the winning total, opening batter Josh Philippe took charge of the innings for Sydney Sixers. After the Sixers lost their first wicket at the score of 13 runs, Philippe and Kurtis Patterson added 54 runs for the second wicket. Patterson got out after scoring 32(20) runs, hitting three fours and a six. After that, skipper Moises Henriques joined Josh Philippe as the duo put up an unbeaten partnership of 75 runs. Henriques remained unbeaten on 29*(27), while Philippe top scored with 66*(41) runs, hitting seven fours and two sixes.
