The defending champions, England are taking on South Africa in the Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. While the Proteas Men are unbeaten so far in the tournament, England also entered this fixture on the back of a win against the co-hosts West Indies in their first Super 8 clash. Earlier in the match, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and invited the South African side to bat first in St Lucia.

After being put to bat first, the Proteas got off to a brilliant start with openers Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks adding 87 runs off 59 balls. The opening partnership was later broken by Moeen Ali. However, wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock continued the attack before he was sent packing with a brilliant effort from Jos Buttler.

Archer, who conceded 21 runs in his opening over was brought into the attack. After giving three runs off just first four deliveries, he bowled a slower bouncer on the fifth delivery. De Kock tried to guide it over the third man but got a nick on the outside edge. Buttler, who was stationed behind the wickets, brought his acrobatic insight and dived full length towards his left to complete a one-handed stunner.

The England later in the match also inflicted a brilliant run out to dismiss Heinrich Klaasen. With a brilliant bowling into the line and length, England restricted South Africa to 163/6 in the 20 overs.
