TNT play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Harlan called out a fan who threw chicken wings on the court during the 123-135 game between the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans on April 12. While the Kings have already secured a good seed in the Western Conference, the same seemed to be slipping away as they had failed to register wins in five of their last eight games. Not only this, but with the Kings also losing the game against the Pelicans, their fans were left unhappy, and one of them expressed their frustration in a very unusual way.
With the last 46 seconds left of the game, when the Pelicans were leading the Kings by 11 points, one of the fans threw a piece of chicken onto the court in frustration. While one of the arena workers was quick enough to run out to collect the chicken wing, broadcaster Kevin Harlan called out the fan’s action and jokingly said, “Somebody’s thrown something on the floor … It’s a chicken wing! Why would someone throw something that good out on the floor? It’s crispy, it’s warm. … I’m so hungry.”
When he saw the support staff running to pick the piece and throw it in the dustbin, Harlan said, “What’s that guy [doing]? I hope he eats it.” Needless to say, the video of the incident went viral on social media, and it garnered attention of the NBA fans from across the globe. Coming back to the game, after Thursday’s loss, the Kings dropped to 45-35, which is the same record as the Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers.
By records and head-to-head tiebreakers, the Kings remain the Western Conference’s number 8 seed. In their next two regular season games, the Kings will take on the Phoenix Suns and the Portland Trail Blazers at home.
