When a young fan wanted Rahmanullah Gurbaz to give him a pair of batting gloves, the Afghanistan player had no hesitation in fulfilling his wish in a heartwarming gesture at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 22-year-old is currently in the City of Joy, to play in the 2024 season of the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The IPL 2024 will be the second season for Rahmanullah Gurbaz in Kolkata Knight Riders, a franchise who gave him the opportunity to make his debut in the tournament last year. During the year 2023, the right-handed batter participated in 11 matches for KKR, scoring 227 runs at an average of 20.64 and a strike-rate of 133.53.
In the viral clip on social media platform X, shared by @Fshinwari1, Rahmanullah Gurbaz asked the fan, “Kya chahiye? (What do you want?)", and in response, he said, “Gloves,” while pointing at them. Without a moment of hesitation, the Afghanistan player told the fan to come around before handing him over the batting gloves, which were in the purple and gold colours of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
In his recent interview with the Telegraph India, Rahamanullah Gurbaz talked about the new KKR mentor, Gautam Gambhir, and said, “Gambhir sir is one of the most experienced people around. So, whenever I need anything, I can go to him and seek his advice.”
"At present, I think I am well prepared and I know how to adjust to different conditions. Sometimes in cricket, you do come across stages when you aren’t able to score in some situations. But we have our experienced coaches in KKR who we can go to,” he added.
