The five-time champions, Australia are taking on Sri Lanka in Match 14 of the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. While the Pat Cummins-led side enter this fixture after defeat in both their matches so far in the tournament, Sri Lanka also enter with a massive blow in their side and two match defeats.

Although this fixture will definitely give one of the team a win in the Cricket World Cup 2023, the match has already seen some heated moments. While one of them game in the very first over of the Sri Lanka innings between Kusal Perera and Mitchell Starc, as the game progressed the 17th over also saw some bizarre incident.
On the final delivery of the 17th over, Marcus Stoinis bowled a short which clonked the Sri Lankan batter on the helmet as he rushed to pull the short. However, Kusal mistimed the short getting hit on the helmet and was quick to remove it as he flickered his eyes before the physio was called in for a concussion check.

However, in a brilliant gesture, Stoinis himself went upto Perera to check upon him before the physio examined the batter. At the end of 17 overs, Sri Lanka’ scoreboard read 96/0 with Kusal Perera at 43 and Pathum Nissanka at 46 off 50 deliveries.
