The star striker of Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe reassured supporters that he will stay with the team for the forthcoming season, putting an end to whispers of a possible departure. The news coincided with Mbappe's fourth consecutive victory as Ligue 1 Player of the Year. Mbappe declared his intention to uphold his current deal with PSG despite ongoing interest from Real Madrid.

Mbappe made this announcement during the UNFP awards ceremony, where he was also named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year alongside Lionel Messi, who was not present since he was in Barcelona for a Coldplay concert.

While speaking to reporters after the event, the 2022 world cup golden boot winner said, "I said next year I will play for Paris Saint-Germain. I have got another year left on my contract, so I am going to honour it." His statement was recorded in French but this is the exact translation of what the 24-year-old said and also added that whatever happens elsewhere, that is none of his business.

Mbappe's comments might be referring to a potential free transfer move at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, as he enters the final year of his contract and was a key component of PSG's victory, scoring 28 goals in this season in Ligue 1. Mbappe is currently focused on PSG's final match of the season against Clermont Foot, which is scheduled for June 3, before turning his attention to the international stage for the UEFA European Championship.

Kylian Mbappe was one of the main reasons behind Paris Saint-Germain winning the 2022-23 season. He was in great form throughout the season and scored goals for fun. He scored 28 goals in just 32 appearances for PSG in the current Ligue 1 season. This was the 11th title for the Parisian club, making them the most successful team in the top-tier league of French football.
