In the main event of UFC 278 on Saturday night at Vivint Arena, Leon Edwards knocked out Kamaru Usman in the final round of the fight to win the UFC welterweight championship. With the win, Edwards broke Usman's 15-fight UFC winning streak, which was one short of Anderson Silva's UFC record.
This is the fourth-latest finish in a UFC title match as Edwards finished the fight at four minutes, four seconds of the fifth round.
It was one of the most stunning knockouts in the history of the sport as Usman witnessed his first knock out loss in the UFC. Usman was considered the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world as ESPN has ranked him the number one fighter in the list.

After winning the title, Edwards became the first Jamaican-born fighter and the second England-based MMA fighter to win a UFC title. "It's more for the people that grew up where I grew up. I know it. I felt it. I felt the pressure. I felt the doubt. I felt people saying it couldn't be done. I was born with nothing ," Edwards said.
"Look at me now! Look at me now! Pound-for-pound one! " Edwards added.
Edwards landed the first ever takedown of Usman in the UFC in the first round and after that the Nigerian dominated the next three rounds and maintained a 39-37 before entering the fifth round. In the fifth round, Edwards denied Usman from a sixth title defense with a striking head-kick to finish the fight and completed his revenge from the 2015 loss against Usman.
