Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi’s heroics guided the side to win their first ever trophy on August 20, Sunday (IST). However, more than his in-game actions, his actions off the game caught everyone’s attention. Messi-led side won the Leagues Cup 2023 final by defeating Nashville SC 10-9. However, post the game, Messi astonished everyone by giving Miami’s former captain DeAndre Yedlin his captain armband and inviting him to lift the trophy.

Earlier, when the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner joined Miami, Yedlin had willingly given up his captaincy to the Argentina superstar. On Sunday, the 36-year-old showed his appreciation by giving his armband to the former Inter Miami captain. Not only this, but the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner also invited him to lend a hand in lifting the title trophy.

The video was posted by the official account of Major League Soccer, and was accompanied by the caption, "Love to see it. 🤝©️ Leo Messi made sure previous @InterMiamiCF captain DeAndre Yedlin played an equal role in lifting the club's first trophy."
