Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen lifting his side’s confidence following the one-wicket defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam. In the interesting contest, Delhi batter Ashutosh Sharma held his nerves and played a scintillating knock of an unbeaten 66 off 31 to help the hosts pull off the target of 210 in 19.3 overs. Lucknow will be repenting of their performance as they had complete control over the game until the 13th over of the second innings. DC were on the backfoot in 13.3 overs as they lost six batters at a score of 113. Lucknow also lost the chance of winning in the game’s last over when their skipper Rishabh Pant missed the opportunity to stump Delhi’s last man Mohit Sharma.

However, Goenka looked calm after the match and gave a speech to his players. He termed the match great despite his team’s loss and also advised his players to emphasise on picking up positives to go against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) confidently on March 27. “Lots of positives that I take away from this game. In batting, in bowling. The way we had the powerplay in both batting and bowling was brilliant. These things happen, we are a young team, let's look at the positives and look forward from tomorrow to the 27th. And hopefully, we'll have a better result. Disappointing result (tonight), yes. But, great game. So well done," said Goenka while addressing his team after the game.

LSG will be required to show their ferocious side against SRH on March 27

LSG will be expecting a tough challenge from SRH, who will be getting support from their fans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In their opening match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Orange Army batters looked merciless against bowlers and notched up 286 runs in their 20 overs. The Sunrisers won the game by a comfortable margin of 44 runs.

In 2024, when Lucknow met SRH in Hyderabad, the home side chased down the target of 166 runs in only 9.4 overs. It is the highest successful 150+ chase in the history of the league. Noting Hyderabad’s form, Lucknow will have to be disciplined in all departments of the game to taste success.
