On Saturday, April 29, Luke Rockhold made his debut in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. He started the match against Mike Perry well, but lost in the second round after a verbal TKO at 1:15. The fighter after his loss posted a video on Instagram, in which he showed off the injuries sustained in the fight. The 38-year-old MMA fighter showed his broken upper tooth and the stitched up lower lip with swelling under his left eye.
The 38-year old fighter said that a better mouthpiece or a beard could have kept him going on for some time longer but that it was a good fight. It was not known initially how the fight ended, but Rockhold cleared the fact that it was him who forfeited it. Even though he had gruesome injuries, he congratulated his rival Mike Perry in the video.
He ended the video by thanking his fans and sponsors and said that some gloves would be nice the next time. It is still unclear whether Rockhold will return to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, but according to him, his fighting career is definitely not over.
“Well, f*ck, what can I say? You can check bare knuckle off the list, that’s some crazy sh*t. Those little knuckles got me, square on the front too. Maybe a beard, maybe a better mouthpiece. It was a good fight, it’s a shame it had to end that way. Motherf*cker Mikey, tough b*stard, congrats. Thank you to my sponsors, thank you to the people,” the American fighter said.
