After winning their first two games, Lancashire defeated Nottinghamshire by 22 runs in their third contest of this season at the Old Trafford. Luke Wood was the star for Lancashire as he bowled an absolute ripper to Alex Hales in the first over of the second innings while defending a comprehensive total, the video has gone viral.
Lancashire elected to bat first after winning the toss and put together 208 for four in the first innings. With the bat, Daryl Mitchell was their best player, getting 85 runs off just 41 balls, while Phil Salt, Luke Wells, and Liam Livingstone also produced useful thirties. Shaheen Shah Afridi ended up being the most expensive bowler of the game with a performance of 1-47 from four overs.
During the second innings, Joe Clarke and Alex Hales opened the batting for Nottinghamshire while Luke Wood, who has represented England in two T20Is and an ODI, started bowling for Lancashire. After Clarke took a single on the first delivery, Hales was on strike. Luke Wood bowled a fiery inswinging yorker and rattled the stumps completely. Hales looked confused as the off-stump went flying away. He played the shot a little late and by the time is bat reached the ground, the stumps were uprooted.
