In a desperate move to net the equaliser, Manchester United’s manager Erik Ten Hag tweaked the formation when just three minutes were remaining in the game against Arsenal at Old Trafford. The Dutch manager pushed the Brazilian forward, Antony, to the left-back position. The 24-year-old seemed unhappy with the decision as he reacted downheartedly after initiating the move.
In the heart-throbbing Premier League clash on Sunday between Ten Hag’s Man United and Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side slumped the home side to a 1-0 defeat to hold their PL title dreams awake. However, Arsenal opened the account early with Leandro Trossard netting the opener just 20 minutes into the game.
Man United, despite making more scoring chances in the game, couldn’t open their account the anxiety among the manager and the players was visible late into the match. During the 87th minute of the game, the former Dutch footballer made a triple substitution in what can be considered as a desperate move. Christian Eriksen, Omari Forson, and Ethan Wheatley came in for Sofyan Amrabat, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Rasmus Hojlund to make an impact for just three official minutes.
The said changes resulted in the shuffling of some on-field players as Brazil superstar Antony was asked to move to left-back as the need for the equalizer escalated. The right winger, who had played for only 17 minutes in its original position looked in discomfort after being made to move from his preferred position.
