On Monday, June 24, West Indies locked horns with South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Group 2 match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The Aiden Markram-led side continued their winning streak in the tournament as they beat the two-time champions by three wickets in a rain interrupted game in Antigua.
Quinton de Kock and David Miller’s crucial knock with the bat helped South Africa post 163 runs, while Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj starred with the ball, picking up two wickets each, with Ottneil Baartman and Anrich Nortje also finishing among wickets. But during the West Indies batting inning, two Protean players, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen were involved in a major mishap, however, both escaped injuries.
In the eighth over of the West Indies innings, Kyle Mayers smashed a straight shot off Aiden Markram delivery. Rabada, who was positioned at long-on, ran to stop the ball, meanwhile Marco Jansen, who was stationed at long off also ran towards it. In this process, both players were involved in a collision near the boundary rope. Although the shot went for a six, both players were down on the ground in pain and the medical team was rushed to check on them.
