India’s new pace sensation Mayank Yadav returned to bowling weeks after sustaining a lower abdominal injury in the IPL 2024. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer, who rose to prominence with his brilliant bowling prowess in the cash-rich tournament could bowl only one over in his third game of the season and was forced to sit out for next five games due to pain in his abdomen. Yadav made his comeback in game against Mumbai Indians but had to leave midway.
The LSG star sustained a small tear in lower abdomen and stayed out of action for some time. However, the 21-year-old resumed action shortly after the completion of the t20 tournament. In a video doing rounds on social media, Yadav was seen bowling in the nets. The Delhi-born bowler emerged as one of the most promising bowlers in the IPL 2024.

As per reports, Mayank has been preparing for India’s forthcoming tour to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Notably, the Men in Blue are set to travel to Zimbabwe in July 2024, where they will play five T20Is. Following this, team India will visit Sri Lanka for a ODI and T20I series. The young LSG lad spoke about his dream of playing for India during one of the matches in IPL 2024. He had said, “My aim is to play for India as much as possible. This is just the start and my main goal is what I am focused on.”
Coming to his performance in the IPL 2024, Yadav showcased remarkable bowling prowess and while bowling 73 deliveries, he conceded 85 runs while claiming 7 wickets. His best bowling figures for the season were 3/14, and had an average of 12.14, an economy rate of 6.99 and strike rate of 10.43. The figures represent how resilient the bowler was when it came to troubling batters and maintaining control throughout the game.
