Australia added 40 runs to their overnight score of 405/7 before being bowled out at the score of 445 in 117.1 overs on day three of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, underway at The Gabba in Brisbane. A half-century from Alex Carey (70 off 88 deliveries) helped the hosts put up a comprehensive total on the board after a dominating day on Sunday, December 15.

But as expected, the visitors, Team India once again fell to the Australian bowling attack. The top order collapsed once again going into lunch with the scorecard reading 22/3. After Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to replicate his performance from Perth Test, Shubman Gill also could not carry the momentum forward with Mitchell Marsh completing a flying catch.

Coming out to bowl his second over and the third of the first Indian innings, Mitchell Starc bowled a full, angling across the right-hander Shubman Gill. While Gill chased it for a drive, the ball flew off the outside edge with Marsh leaping to his left at gully to grab the ball with both hands, handing India their second jolt early in the innings.

Marsh seemed to have celebrated this crucial wicket as he ran around with the ball, adding delight to the hosts. Moreover, two quick wickets for the hosts were not only a cherry on top, Starc was equally boosted with the two early strikes.
