Team Pakistan were seen warming up in their nation ahead of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series in New Zealand against the BlackCaps to be played from March 29 to April 5. A video of Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan is making rounds on social media. In the clip, Rizwan can be seen smashing a maximum which landed the ball in the dugout to shatter pacer Naseem Shah’s phone accidently. Rizwan along with the star players Babar Azam and Naseem couldn’t make it to Pakistan’s T20 International (T20I) squad against New Zealand. The trio utilised the time to prepare for the ODI assignment.

Rizwan faced the ire of former Pakistan speedster Sikander Bakht recently. Bakht took Rizwan and Babar to the cleaners for not showing up in the National T20 Cup organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The 67-year-old urged the board to drop them from the central contract as he felt both players demeaned the board by not participating in the domestic tournament. Following the Champions Trophy 2025 debacle, Rizwan will have to be at his best with captaincy and batting to help his side get the better of the Kiwi team in the upcoming ODI series.

Pakistan bagged nine-wicket win against New Zealand to keep T20I series alive

After losing the first two T20I matches in a row against New Zealand, Pakistan made a comeback in the third T20I played at Eden Park. Pursuing a mammoth target of 205, the Men in Green witnessed the batting brilliance of Hassan Nawaz, who notched up an unbeaten 105 off 45 and broke into the record books for scoring the fastest T20I ton for his national team.

The opener racked up his century in just 44 balls and broke Babar Azam’s feat of scoring a 49-ball hundred against South Africa that came in 2021. Nawaz’s spunky innings helped the Green Shirts to complete the chase with nine wickets in hand and four overs to spare. Nawaz also got the player of the match (POTM) award for his exceptional innings.
