Mohammed Shami, the Indian fast bowler, has blasted Inzamam-ul-Haq after the former Pakistan captain questioned the methods behind Arshdeep Singh finding reverse swing in the T20 World Cup 2024. The 54-year-old had alleged that the ball-tampering happened during India versus Australia clash in the tournament last month, when Arshdeep Singh reversed it in the 14th and 15th over of the innings.
Notably, India managed to defeat Australia in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 by 24 runs at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Saint Lucia. After Rohit Sharma scored an exceptional 92 off 40, setting up a total in excess of 200, India defended the runs successfully against a powerful Australian batting lineup after Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets.
During his sit-down interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube show “Unplugged,” Mohammed Shami addressed the ball-tampering allegations from Inzamam-ul-Haq towards him in the ODI World Cup 2023 and Arshdeep Singh recently. He remarked, “They were never happy with us and will never be. Apparently, I got a different type of ball in the World Cup. I even told in an interview that I would one day cut open the ball. I still have the Player of the Match ball with me and maybe one day I will cut it open and show if it has a device inside it or not.”
Whoever performs against Pakistan, gets targeted: Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami said, “Now, they have come up with another gem in regard to how Arshdeep Singh got the ball to reverse swing (during the T20 World Cup),” before adding, “Whoever performs against them, gets targeted.” “Take these cartoonish comments somewhere else. They are just trying to fool the people,” he further stated.
When Rohit Sharma, the T20 World Cup 2024 winning captain, was asked about the ball-tampering allegations from Inzamam-ul-Haq, he asked the former Pakistan cricketer to have an open mind.
