Days after Indian veteran Amit Mishra made startling remarks on former India captain and batting stalwart, Virat Kohli, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has come to the Indian batter’s rescue. Shami, who is recovering from an injury for which he even underwent a surgery, re-ignited the comments made by his compatriot Mishra in a recent interview on YouTube.

Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, the star Indian pacer, Shami hit back at comments made by Amit Mishra on Virat Kohli. The veteran pacer, who also appeared in a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra earlier had claimed that “power and fame” changed Virat Kohli and he is not the same anymore. “I have seen Virat change a lot. We had used almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat samosas, when he needed pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli the captain. Whenever he meets me, he is very respectful, but it’s obviously not the same anymore,” he had said earlier in an interview.

However, these comments from Mishra did not rest well with Shami as the latter dropped some fiery response. Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube interview, Shami said everytime someone needs media attention, they take Virat’s name. However, Shami refrained from taking Mishra’s name, but said, “Many former cricketers know that whenever they say something against Virat.”

“Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are my best friends,” Shami said adding that they kept calling him when he was injured. “They constantly kept calling me when I was injured,” Shami revealed.
