Mohammed Siraj and Steve Smith had a heated exchange during day four of the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The incident took place after Siraj bowled Usman Khawaja for 21(65) runs in the second Australia innings. After taking the wicket, Siraj performed a silence gesture towards the MCG crowd as a celebration. However, Smith also replicated Siraj’s gesture, which can been in the videos going viral on social media.
After a few overs, Mohammed Siraj also dismissed Steve Smith, as Australia lost their third wicket at the score of 80. Being the top scorer in the first innings with 140 runs, Smith could only score 13(41) runs in the second innings as the Australian top-order failed to score big. However, Marnus Labuschagne turned out to be a top scorer in the second innings with 70(139) runs as Australia are in a lead by 333 runs by the end of day four.
