During the heat of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, star wicketkeeper-batter of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni surprised his former teammate and Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo over a video call. Bravo, who used to play for CSK till IPL 2022, has now been appointed as a mentor for KKR after Gautam Gambhir’s departure after IPL 2024. The former West Indies cricketer was also present at the auction table for KKR in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
CSK posted a video on their social media handle, where a member of the franchise, Sundar Raman gave an earpiece to Dwayne Bravo as he looked into the laptop screen and laughed. It is to be noted that Bravo was a crucial member of CSK throughout the years and was a part of franchise’s title triumphs in 2011, 2018 and 2021. He was last seen playing for CSK in IPL 2022 before he announced retirement from the league. He recently joined Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor for IPL 2025.
CSK on day one of IPL 2025 mega auction
Chennai Super Kings had a good outing on the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The five-time champions bought seven players on day one with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin making his return to the franchise of 10 years. CSK bought Ashwin for INR 9.75 Crore, while they also used right-to-match card on Rachin Ravindra for INR 6.40 Crore.
Apart from that, CSK also bought players like Rahul Tripathi (INR 3.40 Crore), Devon Conway (INR 6.25 Crore), Vijay Shankar (1.20 Crore), Noor Ahmad (INR 10 Crore) and Khaleel Ahmed (INR 4.80 Crore) in the auction. Now, they are left with the purse of INR 15.60 Cr with nine slots to be filled ahead of day two of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
