Musheer Khan, the Mumbai cricketer, who was involved in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh just a day ago, gave his first public statement on the matter in a video shared by his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan on Instagram stories. Accompanied by father Naushad Khan, the teenager, who was in a neck brace, thanked the Almighty for the new life before thanking everyone for their prayers, apart from saying that he is fine now.
Notably, the road accident happened on the outskirts of Uttar Pradesh capital when Musheer Khan was travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father, to participate in the upcoming Irani Cup 2024 match for Mumbai against the Rest of India (ROI). As per the reports, the car in which Musheer Khan was travelling, collided with a divider and overturned on the Purvanchal Expressway, which led to the young cricketer suffering a neck fracture, while his father getting minor injuries.
I want to thank the Almighty for the new life. I am fine for now: Musheer Khan
After their road accident, both the individuals were taken to the Medanta Hospital, where they received care under Dr Dharmendra Singh’s supervision. In the video shared by Sarfaraz Khan on Instagram stories, Musheer Khan was quoted as saying, as per India Today, “I want to thank the Almighty for the new life. I am fine for now. My dad was there with me, he is also fine. Thank you for your prayers.”
At the start of the same video clip, which has gone viral on the social media platform X, Naushad Khan, the father of Musheer Khan remarked, “Good evening. I first want to thank the almighty for the new life. Also to those who prayed for us. Our well-wishers and fans. Our relatives. We thank everyone. Also, we also want to express gratitude to MCA and BCCI who are taking care of Musheer. And what's for the future, that update will also be given by them. I will just say, whatever we haven't got, we need to wait for that. Whatever we have got, we have to be grateful. This is what life is.”
Moreover, due to the severity of Musheer Khan’s injury, he will soon be moved to Mumbai for further evaluation once he is allowed to travel. The injury means that he will be sidelined for at least three months, which is going to force him to miss the majority of the red-ball season for Mumbai.
