The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals kickstarted their IPL 2024 campaign with a comprehensive 20-run win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After winning the toss, it was home side that opted to bat first.
On the back of skipper Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 82-run knock and a quickfire 43 off 29 deliveries from Riyan Parag, RR posted 193 runs on the board. As the game progressed, it was KL Rahul-led LSG that took the guards in the middle in pursuit of the 194-run target.
While Trent Boult drew the first blood for RR in the opening over, followed by another scalp in his second over, debutant Nandre Burger also made his presence felt as he scalped the crucial wicket on Ayush Badoni. Soon after dismissing Badoni on the first ball of the fourth over, the Protean did his usual celebration, raising his fingers.

Speaking of the match, the RR bowlers restricted the LSG scorecard to 173/6 in 20 overs, winning their first game by a margin of 20 runs. With this comfortable win, RR went on the top of the table with two points in their kitty.
