The 13th edition of the ODI World Cup, one of the most prestigious tournaments in cricket, is set to be played later this year in India during the months of October and November. The preparations for the quadrennial cricket event are in full swing as many of the Indian stadiums are going to host multiple matches.  Notably, the draft schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup has been released earlier in June.

The defending champions England are expected to play the finalists New Zealand on October 5, in the opening match of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the hosts India are going to begin their campaign against Australia on October 8 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.  India are slated to play their arch-rivals Pakistan in a highly-anticipated clash at the stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

Earlier today, on June 25, a clip went viral on social media in which the Narendra Modi Stadium is getting the outfield relay in preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is merely three months away. A Twitter user posted a video in which the grass from the outfield was completely gone, while the workers on site were busy with their task at hand.

The newly renovated venue, which can host 132,000 people, is listed to host the grand finale of the upcoming ODI World Cup on November 19. In the last couple of years, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has already been witness to two back-to-back finals of the Indian Premier League. Also, the Indian cricket team has played multiple Tests, ODIs, and T20Is at this ground since its big reopening in 2021.
