Nemanja Matic and Paulo Dybala have had mixed careers so far riddled with injuries, inconsistency, and more. This season Matic and Dybala, both have played an important role at Jose Mourinho’s Roma and almost led them to a Europa League title. Roma lost a heartbreaking final against Sevilla on penalties and Paulo Dybala was seen crying his eyes out after the heartbreaking loss as Matic consoled the emotional Argentine.
Both struggled at their previous clubs as the 34-year-old Serbian fell out of the starting lineup at Manchester United while the Argentine forward has struggled with injuries. One can see the pain in Matic’s eyes after the painful loss but he still consoled young Dybala. Both did everything they could to get Roma over the line but the title just slipped away.
Roma opened the scoring in the final with Dybala's spectacular goal in the 35th minute and they dominated the first half. Sevilla struck back with a goal in the second half and the game went on to extra time and eventually penalties. In the penalties, Bono saved two penalties to give Sevilla their seventh Europa League title. After the game, an emotional Dybala can't hold tears falling from his eyes as Matic was spotted comforting the Argentine.

Matic moved from Chelsea to Man United in 2017 after winning three Premier League titles with the London side but his move to the Old Trafford did not pan out the way he would have expected as he slipped into the fringes of the first team in 2021. It forced him to move to Italy at Roma where he has turned things around and played an important role in Roma’s sixth-place finish in Serie A and runners-up finish in the Europa League.
The 29-year-old Argentine has been plagued with injuries in his career getting multiple muscular injuries and missing many games for Juventus. He moved to Roma last summer to be a more central figure for the club. Although his injury problems have not improved much this season as he has missed 18 games for Roma he still has 17 goals and eight assists in the 37 games he has played this season.
