The Asian Games 2023 has kicked off with Nepal dominating Mongolia in the first match of the competition. Nepal smashed various international records as they defeated Mongolia by 273 runs in the first match at the Asiad in Men's Cricket event. Nepal batter Kushal Malla scored the fastest T20I century as he registered an unbeaten knock of 137 runs off just 50 balls.
Mongolia asked Nepal to bat first after winning the toss and the latter recorded the highest total in a T20I match ever 314 runs with a loss of three wickets in 20 overs as Kushal Malla shattered India skipper Rohit Sharma, South African batter David Miller and Czech Republic's Sudesh Wickramasekara's (achieved in 35 balls) record by smashing a century in just 34 balls.
In the opening men's cricket game of the Asian Games 2023, Malla smashed a six to reach the triple figures in the match against Mongolia. He smashed 12 sixes and eight fours in his innings to help Nepal post a humongous total of 314 runs. However, Malla scored the century in three deliveries more than the fastest century world record by South African legend AB de Villiers (31 balls).

Apart from Malla, the match between Nepal and Mongolia saw many records being broken as Nepal registered the highest T20I total of 314 runs while Dipendra Singh Airee smashed the fastest fifty in just nine balls. Nepal went on to win the match with the highest margin of runs, 273 runs, and also smashed 26 sixes in the innings, which is also a world record.
