The five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Friday, May 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While the Hardik Pandya-led side had a forgettable season this time, finishing at the bottom of the points table with just four wins from 13 matches, they also became the first team to get knocked out of the tournament.
But hoping to end the 2024 edition on a high and spoiling Lucknow Super Giants’ party, the MI bowlers were smashed all over the park by LSG skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran. While KL Rahul reached his half century off 37 deliveries, Nicholas Pooran got to his 50 off just 19 balls. The West Indies international smashed Arjun Tendulkar for two back-to-back sixes to reach 50.
What followed was Pooran’s patent celebration as he brought up his kiss celebration, video of which is going viral on social media.
Arjun Tendulkar leaves the field midway through the over
The MI bowler, Arjun Tendulkar however had to leave the field after being smashed by back-to-back sixes from Nicholas Pooran. The incident took place in the 15th over when Arjun Tendulkar seemed have pulled a strain. However, he was checked just before he began bowling his third over, but was forced to walk off after just two deliveries.
Naman Dhir completed the over of Arjun Tendulkar, while Rohit Sharma replaced him on the field.
