Nicholas Pooran showed outrageous form with the bat as the West Indies batter smashed four sixes against South Africa’s Nandre Burger in the first T20I of a three-match series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on August 24. The hosts West Indies registered a convincing seven-wicket win against South Africa to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Chasing a target of 175 runs, Nicholas Pooran came to bat when West Indies lost their first wicket at the score of 84 runs at the end of eight overs. During his knock, Pooran punished Burger by hitting four consecutive sixes on the last four balls of the 12th over from the South Africa pacer.
It led to Nicholas Pooran taking the game away from the Proteas as the Windies chased the target in 17.5 overs.

The hosts West Indies registered a convincing victory in the first T20I against South Africa by seven wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first, South Africa posted a total of 174/7 in their 20 overs. Tristan Stubbs was the top scorer with 77 runs off 42 balls hitting eight fours and three sixes, while Patrick Kruger added the finishing touches with 44(32) runs.
For the Windies, Matthew Forde took three wickets and Shamar Joseph added two in his bag, while Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd took 1-1 wicket each.
In pursuit of the runs, West Indies got off to a flying start with Alick Athanaze (40 off 30) and Shai Hope (51 off 36) adding 84 runs for the first wicket. After that, the eventual player of the match Nicholas Pooran took charge of the innings, and smashed an unbeaten 65*(26) runs with two fours and seven sixes.
