On Saturday, Deceber 28, Team India resumed their innings at 164/5 with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle. With 111 runs needed to avoid a follow-on, India racked up some runs on the board with Nitish Kumar Reddy getting to his maiden fifty on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.
Reddy, who has been one of the key performers in the side in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series, got to his half-century off 81 deliveries. His crucial knock followed his 41 and 38 not out in the Perth Test, followed by 42 in day-night Test in Adelaide. However, his worst outing came at the Gabba, where he was dismissed cheaply at the score of 16, but came out good, making necessary amends at MCG.

On Day 3 of the ongoing fourth BGT Test at MCG, the series debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy reached his maiden 50 off 81 deliveries. Reddy lofted a full delivery from Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc over the vacant point region and the ball raced away to a boundary, getting the Indian all-rounder to his half-century.
Soon after reaching this feat, he brought up the signature move from the Allu Arjun-starrer Telugu movie Pushpa. Moreover, his celebration also evoked laughter and admiration from the legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

It is to be noted that the Indian youngster also achieved a benchmark with his crucial knock. Reddy, who is currently batting at the score of 85* with early tea being called out on Day 3, he joined Anil Kumble in an elite list of batters to have scored half-centuries in Tests on Australian soil coming out at No. 8.
